Teaching

Charlotte Newstead

In more than fifteen years of teaching singing, I have yet to meet the person who “can’t sing”. Everyone has a voice and I can help you find and enjoy yours. Most common problems of breath-control, intonation, tone-quality, hoarseness and limited range can be remedied with good technique. As an active member of the Association of Teachers of Singing and with LGSMD, MA and BA qualifications in singing and music, I can guide you through the process of improving your technique to overcome these and other vocal problems.

Working mainly in the classical genre I focus on developing a safe technique, with easy flowing voice production, secure breath management, free vowels and correct pronunciation of foreign languages. People who study with me range from beginners to professionals and span all ages from young children to octogenarians – it’s never too late to start! I believe very strongly that we sing to communicate with each other so I provide regular performance opportunities (NB not compulsory!) for my students of all levels from concerts and parties to visits to care homes. Since Covid 19 struck, these events have moved on-line, but the show most certainly goes on.

Regular or occasional lessons are available for help with exams, auditions, shows and concerts but also just for fun. I teach both on-line and face to face in Bristol.
