September 5th & 19th, October 10th & 17th, November 7th & 28th in live discussion via Zoom or subsequently via recorded link
A series of six 45 minute Discover Classes covering a range of repertoire and genres. There are some favourites of the classical music world, such as Shostakovich’s 2nd Piano Concerto and a Bach Brandenburg Concerto, plus the exciting contemporary work, blue cathedral by Jennifer Higdon. We’ll also listen to Borodin’s much loved 2nd String Quartet, two walztes by Sibelius and we’ll finish the term with Britten’s evergreen Ceremony of Carols.
No previous knowledge is needed. I will guide you through each piece including its historical context and helpful things to listen out for. Join either of the live sessions for a chance to join the discussion or select video catch-up if you want to watch afterwards in your own time.
